Dominique Strauss Kahn: A Victim Because of his Status

Who really is in charge of the Manhattan District Attorney’s office; is it Cyrus Vance Jr. or the attorneys for Ms. Diallo? I join with those who believe that Mr. Vance must regain complete  control of prosecuting Mr. Strauss. In the process he would set an example for his office and boost morale. Mr. Vance, as District Attorney, must represent the people and not the interest of any person or group. The belief that justice is blind is indispensable to a healthy democracy. A person must have unwavering faith that he or she would be prosecuted and adjudged only upon the law and facts. On the other hand crime victims must believe that their complaints will be thoroughly and fairly investigated and, if warranted, criminal charges would be filed. Mr. Vance, the politician, does his office a  disservice by engaging in ugly public exchanges with Ms. Daillo’s attorneys and supporters. As District Attorney Mr. Vance does not have to constantly consult with Diallo and her attorenys. He does not need their approval to discharge his official duties. The public rightfully believes that the these combatants have lost focus on prosecuting Mr. Strauss, who is savoring every moment of this chaotic failure.

Sealers Wheel’s hit song-Stuck in the Middle with You- must be playing over and over in Mr. Vance’s head. You Tube

Mr. Vance is a competent attorney and administrator. He will decide the future of the prosecution base upon the law and facts. I am confident that politics will not factor into his decision.  He has learned his lesson and his staff will not let him forget it. The days of him being bullied around are over.

What is your take on the Dominique Straus-Kahn case?
